The mention of Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna, British Columbia, highlights its status as a premier destination for athletes, coaches, and spectators, particularly in the realm of para snowboarding. The 2024 Welcome To Paradise Para Snowboard World Cup is the 10th Para World Cup hosted by Big White Ski Resort. Big White is a consistent stop on the Para Snowboard World Cup and NorAm tour showcasing its prominence in the para snowboarding world. This continuity speaks volumes about the resort's dedication
to inclusivity and its commitment to providing opportunities for para-athletes to compete at a high level.
The skill, determination, and camaraderie displayed by the athletes contribute to the overall experience, making it memorable for all involved. As the 10th anniversary approaches, it promises to be a momentous occasion filled with
celebration and thrilling competitions.


About Big White

Big White Ski Resort hosted their first edition back in 2013 and have championed the Para Snowboard events in Canada. Canada Snowboard will work in partnership with BC Snowboard to deliver its 10th World Cup.

Registration, Quotas and Fees
Registration for the World Cups will be done online through the FIS Para Registration and Entry system Deadline for entry:

  • Entries by number open 12 weeks prior to the event
  • Entries by number close 3 weeks prior to the event
  • Entries by name open 3 weeks prior to the event
  • Entries by name closed 1 week prior to the event

Registration Fees:
A registration fee of 90 CHF will be charged for each athlete to register for the event. This includes access to all official training days, qualifications and finals as per the FIS Para Snowboard ICR 305.2.1

Payment:
Invoices will be forwarded to Nations and must be paid prior to first day on snow. Payment options will be included with invoice.

Rates (prices include all applicable taxes)

  • Double (2 persons per room): $1,450.00 CAN
  • Triple (3 persons per room): $1,250.00 CAN
  • Single (1 person per room): $2,100.00 CAN

NOTE: The Organizers ask that rooms be booked on a double or triple occupancy basis where possible (triple rooms are limited).

Hotel
The Inn at Big White is situated in the heart of the Big White Village. Amenities include breathtaking views, outdoor pool and hot tub, games room, fitness center, laundry, free Internet and Optik TV, elevator. Hotel rooms have a galley kitchen which includes an induction cooker, mini-refrigerator, microwave and sink. Dishes, cookware and utensils are included.

Meal Plan
Meal Plan is included in package rates. Our meal plan is provided by various restaurants throughout the Big White Village. Vouchers will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner for each day to be used at restaurant(s) of your choice.

Lift Tickets
Lift Tickets for March 21, 22, 23 and 24 are included in the package rates.

VISA
All traveling parties may need to have a valid Canadian Visa. The organizing committee will provide a specific visa invitation to the competitors. Please contact jrypbzr.gb.cnenqvfr@pnanqnfabjobneq.pn for invitation letters. A table including the following information for all participants needs to be included with email:

  • Last and first names
  • Date of birth
  • Function/position (athlete, coach, technician...)
  • Passport country
  • Passport number
  • Passport expiration date
  • FIS number (for athletes)

Team Captains Meeting
Team Captains meetings will be held in person at the White Crystal Conference Room. Please see FIS schedule for details

Bibs
All competitors must wear assigned bibs during all scheduled training, competition and awards ceremonies. Bib distribution will take place at the team captains meeting, which is to be held the day before official training.

Anti-doping
Anti-doping control may be conducted for each discipline and gender, in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by FIS.

Medical
Each competitor must have his/her own medical Travel Insurance. The Organizing Committee, Commonwealth, Canadian Snowsports Association, FIS, Canada Snowboard, sponsors and suppliers decline any responsibility for accidents, damaged equipment, and second and third party claims during the event. In the case of accidents on course during the event, medical personnel from the OC and Ski Patrol personnel will be responsible for any medical decision or evacuation to the local hospital in cooperation with the National Sport Associations’ medical personnel identified on the entry form. A detailed medical plan is in place and medical staff will be present during all training and competition.

Regulations & Insurance
All athletes, officials and other members of their National Sport Association who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. The OC, BC Snowboard, Big White Ski Resort, the Canadian Snowsports Association, FIS, Canada Snowboard, sponsors and suppliers, their agents, employees and volunteers, shall not be held responsible for any losses or injuries incurred or suffered by any athlete, official or other person in conjunction with the organization or staging of the event. All participants are urged not to be negligent in safeguarding their personal belongings at all times. The aforementioned parties will take no responsibility for missing belongings.

Liability
All athletes, officials and other members of their National Sport Association who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. The Organizing Committee, sponsors, suppliers, their agents, employees, & volunteers, shall not be held responsible for any losses or injuries incurred or suffered by any athlete, official or other person in conjunction with the organization or staging of the  event.
