Welcome / Introduction 

 

Are you game to shred the real north? In a monumental celebration of snowboarding,  the Yukon Territory is set to host its very first Para Snowboard World Cup, "Lost in Paradise". The Banked Slalom Event, on March 28th-29th, 2024 hosted at the stunning Mount Sima in Whitehorse, YT  is the final race of the international tour, making it the Para World Cup finals. We are proud to host the teams on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council. We understand this is a privilege and honour our responsibility to ensure respectful use during this event.

The world of Para Snowboarding will truly come together as the event unites athletes, fans, and the local community in a remarkable showcase of athleticism, technical ability, and inclusivity.

About Whitehorse/ Mt. Sima

Registration, Quotas and Fees

Registration/entries

Registration for the NorAm and World Cups will be done using the FIS Entry Form. They must be submitted by the  National Ski & Snowboard Associations. Entry forms must be emailed to ybfg.va.cnenqvfr@pnanqnfabjobneq.pn according to the deadlines below.

Deadline for entry: 

Accommodation entry deadline February 19, 2024

Entry by number closes: March 6, 2024 provisional entry deadline

Entry by name closes: March 20, 2024 final entry deadline

Registration Fees: 

A registration fee of 90 CHF will be charged for each athlete to register for the event. This includes access to all official training days, qualifications and finals as per the FIS Para Snowboard ICR 305.2.1

Invoicing:

All invoices for this event will be created for the whole nation, as registered on the FIS entry form. If a change needs to be made to an invoice, please provide plenty of advance notice. 

 Please inform the OC by email (ybfg.va.cnenqvfr@pnanqnfabjobneq.pn) if any of the following information is required by Monday March 18, 2024.

  • Specific person invoice should be billed to
  • Specific billing address needed on invoice 
  • If the bill needs to be split in any way (ie. support staff and athletes separate, athletes from the same nation being billed separately, etc). 
  • Correct contact information will be needed for each individual invoice. 

Following the final deadline, the final invoice will be sent. This will be for the remaining balance, based on final team registration 

Payment: 

Payment will be accepted via credit card or wire transfer. NO cash will be accepted. 

If your nation plans to pay via wire transfer, please inform the OC (ybfg.va.cnenqvfr@pnanqnfabjobneq.pn) by Monday March 18, 2024 so correct details can be sent for this process.

Prepayment before the nation's arrival is preferred and encouraged. Payment via credit card will be accepted onsite, but is discouraged. 

Please note: Payment per  individual person will NOT be accepted, invoices are created per nation. Please see invoicing details above.  

Media: 

Athletes/ team photographers, videographers and media attaches are required  to contact our media/ press team (zrqvn@pnanqnfabjobneq.pn) in order to obtain the proper accreditation for the event.

Accommodation 

Athlete accommodation will be provided at the Sternwheeler  in Downtown Whitehorse. 

Event rate accommodations are available from March 25, 2024 to March  29, 2024

Accommodations need to be booked directly through the OC using the accommodation booking form. The OC uses the registration form linked above to make all accommodation reservations. Ensure that the arrival/ departure dates, roommates etc. are correct. The OC will only accept room changes, additions and cancelations done through the registration form linked above.  Please do not contact the host hotel as they will not be able to offer the same rates. All accommodations requirements and/or requests MUST be imputed into the above  registration form by February 19, 2024.

Rates:

The following rates are for double rooms: 

  • 150.00 CDN per person/ per night plus local taxes and service fees incl. Breakfast & Dinner 

The following rates are for single rooms: 

  • 220.00 CDN per person/ per night plus local taxes and service fees incl. Breakfast & Dinner 

Hotel Check-In: 

  • A credit card will be required at hotel check in for incidentals/ damages 
  • The host hotel will charge the individual/ teams for all incidents and damages that may occur in your hotel room.
  • The host hotel will charge the individual/ teams for early check-outs, if the hotel staff are not made aware of the date change at check-in

Meals:

Half board (breakfast and dinner) will be served by the OC each day. time and location will be dependent on the event schedule. Details will be shared with registered teams. 

Lunch will be at the cost of the athlete, options will be available at Mt. Sima.

Cancelations/ No-Show: 

Cancelations of any accommodations MUST be done directly through the OC using the accommodation booking form or by emailing ybfg.va.cnenqvfr@pnanqnfabjobneq.pn

Any bookings (athletes or support staff) that are canceled on or after March 20, 2024, are subject to cancelation fees. Cancelation charges will be billed directly to the nation and payment expected within 30 days.

Transportation

Teams are responsible for their own transportation to and from Whitehorse, Yukon. The closest international airport to the event is the Whitehorse International Airport.

VISA

All traveling parties may need to have a valid Canadian Visa.  The organizing committee will provide a specific visa invitation to the competitors.  Please contact ybfg.va.cnenqvfr@pnanqnfabjobneq.pn for invitation letters. 

A table including the following information for all participants needs to be included with email: 

  • Last and first names
  • Date of birth 
  • Function/position (athlete, coach, technician…)
  • Passport country 
  • Passport number
  • Passport expiration date
  • FIS number (for athletes)

Team Captain Meeting

Team Captains meetings will be held in person at the Sternwheeler. Please see FIS schedule for details

Bibs

All competitors must wear assigned bibs during all scheduled training, competition and awards ceremonies. Bib distribution will take place at the first team captains meeting, which is to be held the day before official training.

Anti-doping 

Anti-doping control may be conducted for each discipline and gender, in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by FIS.

Medical

Each competitor must have his/her own medical Travel Insurance. The Organizing Committee, Commonwealth,  Canadian Snowsports Association, FIS, Canada Snowboard, sponsors and  suppliers decline any responsibility for accidents, damaged equipment, and second and third party  claims during the event.  

In the case of accidents on course during the event, medical personnel from the OC and Ski Patrol  personnel will be responsible for any medical decision or evacuation to the local hospital in cooperation with the National Sport Associations’ medical personnel identified on the entry form.

A detailed medical plan is in place and medical staff will be present during all training and competition. 

Regulations & Insurance

All athletes, officials and other members of their National Sport Association who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. The OC, Yukon Snowboard, Mt. Sima, the Canadian Snowsports Association, FIS, Canada Snowboard, sponsors and suppliers, their agents, employees and volunteers, shall not be held responsible for any losses or injuries incurred or suffered by any athlete, official or other person in conjunction with the organization or staging of the event. All participants are urged not to be negligent in safeguarding their personal belongings at all times. The aforementioned parties will take no responsibility for missing belongings.

Liability 

All athletes, officials and other members of their National Sport Association who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. The Organizing Committee,sponsors, suppliers, their agents, employees, & volunteers,  shall not be held responsible for any losses or injuries incurred or suffered by any athlete, official or other person in conjunction with the organization or staging of the event. Equipment storage /Wax

The competitors, coaches and officials must store their snowboards, wax and waxing tools in the  area provided by the hotel or team vehicles. Snowboards will not be permitted in your hotel room. Wax facilities will be available at the hotel.
