10 Things To Do at The Style Experience

The time is almost here! With just 10 days left until The Style Experience takes over Shredmonton's Commonwealth Stadium, anticipation is at an all time high. But aside from mind-blowing snowboarding on the biggest kicker Canadian snowboarding has ever seen, what exactly goes on at a stadium Big Air event? Take a deep dive as we run through the Top 10 Things To Do at The Style Experience, and if you haven't got your tickets already lock in your spot by clicking HERE!

1 - Try Snowboarding!

We know you and your family will be inspired by the incredible tricks on display at The Style Experience, and we want you to turn inspiration into action! At the Nitro Snowboards Mini Shred Park, your little rippers can strap in and learn the basics of snowboarding in a fun, controlled environment. With coaches and comfortable gear provided for all riders aged 3-12, make The Style Experience a jumping off point for a lifetime of snowboarding adventures!

2 - Pick Up Limited Edition Canada Snowboard Merchandise

Your National Snowboard Team is one of the best in the world– show your support at Canada Snowboard Merch Booth, where you'll have the chance to pick up limited edition apparel from Li Ning, the Official Outerwear Sponsor of the Canadian Team. With everything from Olympic Gear to Team Canada Swatch Watches, there are plenty of ways to back the riders in red.

3 - Learn about Edmonton's Indigenous peoples

The Style Experience takes place on Treaty 6 Territory, and within the traditional homelands of the Métis Nation. Many First Nations such as the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuliné (Dene), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) have claims to traditional territory in the region. Learn about these incredible groups through our jump blessing ceremony, where the spotlight will be on Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, and immerse yourself in the artistic stylings of Dusty LeGrande, whose Cree-inspired designs are built into every aspect of The Style Experience's unique décor.

4 - Win Prizes!

Everyone loves prizes, and The Style Experience is stacked with chances to win. Thanks to partners like Protect Our Winters Canada, Neo Financial, and Lake Louise, we're giving away everything from snowboards to season's passes. Win official Canada Snowboard Team outerwear from Li Ning, a Canada Snowboard Team watch from Swatch, a snowboard trip to Marmot Basin, and more!

5 - PARTY!

Don't be shy– letting loose is part of snowboarding! Grab some suds from Banded Peak Brewing and make it a night for the books. Remember that snowboarding is a community, and you're with your people. Fire up a few conversations, talk some shop, and walk away with some new shred partners. Keep it going at the Canadian Brewhouse, home of the official afterparty of The Style Experience, where the riders will be sending it deep into the night!

6 - Games, Games, Games!

With all the fun and games in our Vendor Village, it could easily be mistaken for a carnival midway. We've got giant spinning prize wheel from Rumor Boardshop, Cornhole at the Lake Louise booth, and maybe best of all, shoot-to-win basketball with the Edmonton Stingers! You can win everything from tickets to a Stingers game to transportation to Jasper from MagicBus Tours– there truly is something for everyone!

7 - Join Protect Our Winters Canada

With the climate crisis at our doorstep, it's never been more important to do all we can to advocate for our planet. Fortunately, the legends at Protect Our Winters Canada are here to help! POW Canada is a grassroots-driven organization that turns passion into purpose by mobilizing the snowsports community to take meaningful action. Their projects have real results– for example, in 2020 POW Canada played a key role in keeping four megatonnes of carbon from the Teck Frontier Oilsands Project in the ground. Be sure to connect with POW Canada at The Style Experience, and learn how to win prizes with their new Game On Climate Change program.

8 - Learn how Adaptive Athletes Hit the Slopes with Canadian Adaptive Snowsports

The tenacity and determination of adaptive athletes never ceases to amaze, and the engineering behind their equipment is almost as impressive. Check out the Canadian Adaptive Snowsports booth in our Vendor Village to see how a sit ski works, and learn all about the inspiring folks who have reached amazing heights and used adaptive gear to live their skiing and snowboarding dreams.

9 - Meet the Edmonton Elks Mascot and Cheer Team

We're extremely stoked to host The Style Experience at the Commonwealth Stadium, home of the Edmonton Elks. As it turns out, the Elks are stoked too! Come meet the mascots, cheer team, and Elks players as they cheer on their favourite snowboarders from our Vendor Village. For those of you with little ones, the Elks are bringing an authentic fire truck for photos– definitely a must hit! Go Elks!

10 - Check out the latest and greatest snowboard gear

You've seen the gear in action on the scaffolding, now check it out up close and in person at the Rumor Boardshop pop-up in our Vendor Village. Snowboard Gear has made leaps and bounds in the past years, with materials getting lighter and designs being refined to perfection. The experts from Rumor Boardshop will fill you in on the latest and greatest, and help you find gear that matches your skillset and brings your snowboarding experience to another level.
